Its “Tail of the Whale,” an optional, par-three 19th hole measuring 199 yards, features the only natural island green in the world. The course plays between 5,037 and 7,014 yards.
BAHIA GOLF COURSE
The newest addition to Punta Mita’s golfing achievement, this second Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course opened in late 2008 and is as stunning as its sister course.

OCEAN AND ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES
Nestled between the lush jungles of the Sierra Madre Mountains and the deep blue of the Pacific Ocean, this extraordinary peninsula offers a breathtaking coastline, an inviting seaside playground and a natural magnet for all kind of aquatic and land adventures.
The sparkling waters, pristine beaches, coral reef and occasionally rocky coast inspire a host of delightful experiences: sport fishing, sea kayaking, whale watching, surfing, sailing, diving, spearfishing, snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, horseback riding and mountain biking.
Club Punta Mita offers a full range of ocean and outdoor activities, many of which are provided by our Ocean Activities Coordinator located at the Residents Beach Club and at Sea Breeze Beach Club.
One delightful way to explore the area’s sea life and abundant natural wonders is by paddling a sea kayak in the waters around Punta Mita. You just might view humpback whales, dolphins, sea turtles or some of the ocean’s other delights. After a day of discovery along the Pacific and Bay of Banderas, ride the waves back to the Punta Mita beach.
Pacific Coast Sailing
View the glimmering horizon from the deck of a luxury sailboat (or atop your windsurfer). Navigate around the rocky landscape of the Marietas Islands. Enjoy views of migrating humpback whales (December-April), dolphins, sea turtles (summer months) and more.
Banderas Bay, with uncharted depths of over two miles and a circumference of 60 miles (diameter is 25 miles), provides some of the best deep-sea fishing in the world. Within and outside of the bay in the deep waters of the Pacific Ocean, sport fishing enthusiasts can do battle with marlin, amberjack, sailfish, wahoo, mahi mahi and tuna—just a sampling of the dozens of varieties of fish roaming these waters. Charted boats and expert captains are available to guide both experienced fishers and novices to the best spots in the area.
The waters off the coast of Punta Mita are replete with colorful marine life, ensuring that your underwater experience will be nothing less than extraordinary. As you glide through the water, you may see turtles and dolphins, lobsters and mantas, and plenty of tropical fish, even pods of visiting humpback whales (December-April).
Dating back at least to the 1970s, the waves off Punta Mita’s peninsula were a serious surfer magnet. It’s easy to see why: Punta Mita provides more than a dozen year-round spots to climb atop a board and ride the waves. There are both long, easy-going breaks and more demanding reef breaks with faster waves—challenging to both novices and accomplished surfers. Nearby beach towns such as Sayulita offer alternate sites for surfing, as well as a mellow surf culture.
The Marine Safari provides an adventurous experience in the waters surrounding Punta Mita. Ride along with dolphins and snorkel through schools of king angelfish and with giant Pacific manta rays. Explore the Marietas islands´many caves and capture photos of its rare blue-footed booby birds and passing humpback whales. This tour is designed for family-style fun and adventure.
Every year, from December to April, Punta Mita residents and guests can see migrating humpback whales in Banderas Bay. These magnificent mammals, which can reach a length of 55 feet, often breach the water, their massive tails flapping, before splashing below in a magical water ballet. They may be sounding their mating song, and they may come close to a watching boat, even rub against it and gaze at the people on board. These are unforgettable moments, a reason to savor Punta Mita’s seaside sanctuary.
As exceptional as Banderas Bay is for sport fishing, it makes perfect sense that it is also ideal for spearfishing, a thrilling sport that puts you in direct contact with your target. Experience the feeling of being one with the ocean while free-diving, or simply snorkel on the surface while waiting for the fish that will become dinner for your family and friends. Learn the most important techniques for safety and hinting the best species in the area during this half-day expedition guided by professional spearfishermen from the team at Punta Mita Expeditions. They can accommodate and instruct beginners, or challenge those experienced in this sport.
